Galxe’s End Of Year Recap 2022

Galxe has climbed astronomical heights since its conception in 2021, and 2022 was just slamming on the accelerator. What started out as the small Project Galaxy has now grown into a full blown Galxe ecosystem, where 10,000+ campaigns have been launched with over 1,500 partners across 13 major blockchains and 750,000 UAWs (Unique Active Wallets) participating monthly.

What does this mean?

Galxe has proven to be the leader of credential data network and we don’t plan on stopping anytime soon.

Significant Growth

Just about a year ago, we introduced Galxe OATs (On-Chain Achievement Tokens), a gas-less and lightweight solution for Web3 projects to better reward and engage with their communities. Available on both BNB Chain and Polygon, Galxe OATs are digital collectibles that record a Web3 explorer’s journey and achievements, on-chain and off-chain.

A year later, Galxe OATs turned out to be everyone’s favorite, now trending in the 5th place on BNB Chain with over 1 million unique wallet address holders. In addition, the Galxe OAT contract stays №1 on Polygon with more than 6.7 million total mints. In less than a year, Galxe went from 0 to 1.2 million UAWs just on Polygon alone! Despite bear market, Galxe’s MAUs (Monthly Active Users) on Polygon reached 450k in September and 500k on BNB Chain in October.

In addition, an OAT Template Creation Feature was developed for projects to customize OATs and interact with their communities instantly. Jonathan Victor, Growth Lead at Protocol Labs, also a fan of OATs, said:

“We’re thrilled with the launch of Galxe OAT — if 2021 was the breakthrough year for NFTs as culture, 2022 is the year for NFTs as utilities.”

And OAT was just one of the many Galxe highlights of 2022. In January 2022, Galxe announced a $10 million financing round. Multicoin Capital and Dragonfly Capital led the funding round with participation from several Web3 industry leaders and blockchain proponents, including Spartan Group, Sky9 Capital, Coinbase Ventures, and Binance Smart Chain Growth Fund. We intended to use the funds to grow our credential data network and build a wide array of application modules to help Web3 projects effectively build compelling and engaging campaigns. And as 2023 begins, we are proud to say that we did all this and more.

Then Galxe launched our native token, $GAL, in February 2022 with a public Coinlist sale of 10 million $GAL. What’s interesting about the $GAL token is that it’s designed to run the entire Galxe ecosystem in the future, helping to connect and incentivize users while encouraging growth both inside and out. At the moment, $GAL functions primarily as a governance token, and the community is working on adding more utilities to the token in the ecosystem.

Midway through 2022 and growing at lightning speed, our team felt it was time for a major upgrade. Project Galaxy at the time was way beyond a project, but rather a fully developed ecosystem with more than 500k Twitter followers, a Discord community of 400k Astronauts and millions of Galxe ID users. All that being said, in September, Project Galaxy was rebranded to Galxe. Our new logo of three flying comets are taking us to explore new heights and push the frontier even further.

Sensational Events

By the end of 2022, Galxe ranked in the 2nd place among social dApps and top 5 of all dApps. These impressive accomplishments are a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team, as well as the success of all the amazing campaigns we powered throughout the year.

Starting with the “2022 is gonna be SOL Cool” event, initiated by Galxe and powered by Solana, helped 27 projects to kick start their 2022. The high turnout on SOL Cool established Galxe’s reputation in hosting multi-partner campaigns and boosting their brand presence. More importantly, we saw a passionate community of Web3 users who were eager to explore the space with us. With a win-win situation like this, Galxe saw the potential in bridging noteworthy Web3 projects and knowledge-craving Web3 users.

In the following months, we continued taking on more initiatives in collaboration with major Layer 1 and Layer 2 blockchains to introduce more users to Web3 with learn-to-earn campaigns. By the end of January, Ethereum-based DeFi 101 courses by CoinGecko was launched on Galxe, followed by BNB Chain’s How to Web3, presented by CoinMarketCap.

And as winter gave way to spring and summer, Galxe launched an onboarding campaign to help users navigate Galxe called “Enter The Galxe”. This campaign allowed participants to jump into our ecosystem and mint a free Galxe OAT in two simple steps. This campaign was a huge success with 73,873 OATs minted and continues to be a great way to introduce new users to our galactic ecosystem.

What really put Galxe under the spotlight was the out-of-this-world Arbitrum Odyssey campaign. As one of the most popular Layer 2 projects, Arbitrum rallied Web3 users to explore 50+ projects with incentivizing prizes. Not only did the campaign hit 400k mints in less than a week, but 100k of Galxe users are still active on Arbiturm months later. To date, the NFT rewards are still the №1 trending collection on Arbitrum.

Another Layer 2, Optimism, was introduced to Galxe’s ecosystem and community through a perpetual learn-to-earn experience, bringing up to 40% of new users to Optimism. Wrapping up with 3.4 million total mints, Optimism Quests (Season One) was a great advantage especially if you just got into Web3. Stay tuned for the coming Season Two!

Galxe has also carved some nice tracks on Avalanche last year, powering 2 of the top 3 contracts in November. The Head of DeFi at Avalanche, Luigi Demeo, commented:

“We’ve seen Galxe help drive engagement with various protocols in the Avax ecosystem such as Trader Joe, Joepegs NFT, and ODOS Protocol. The Galxe team has been great to work with and we look forward to a continued relationship.”

During the course of the year, a total of 10,000+ campaigns by 1,500+ projects were powered by Galxe. We even created a new Twitter page dedicated to just Galxe Campaigns so that our community would always know where to go to get more involved. At the same time, projects on Galxe have so many creative yet user-friendly tools to utilize and interact with their communities, from Galxe OAT campaigns to simply award Discord AMA attendees to month-long campaigns with Mystery Box NFTs, Forging, Raffle…. and a lot more to come!

Spectacular Innovations

On top of all these amazing campaigns, Galxe also integrated with Aptos Network, Moonbeam Network, ZetaChain, Petra Wallet, and more. The developers at Galxe have been working relentlessly to make sure both users and projects can easily navigate our dashboard and their Web3 adventure. Whether you are just beginning your journey into web3 or are an experienced pro, our updates are sure to enhance your experience. Let’s take a look at some of the spectacular innovations we have launched this year.

One thing Galxe never stopped building is our decentralized and on-chain credential data network, to recognize the achievements and contributions of Web3 communities. All the stellar campaigns aforementioned leveraged Galxe, credentialing off-chain actions such as Twitter follow, Discord member role, as well as on-chain actions including swapping tokens, bridging, and more. By the end of 2022, Galxe has developed 9 Credential types, numerous features and sources to help projects streamline credential tracking. One noteworthy feature was the Discord and Twitter Bots, which automatically capture all the basic functions on Discord and Twitter.

Another exciting new feature was Galxe Passport. Right after the idea of Soulbound Token (SBT) was conceptualized, Galxe quickly found a utility for it to better protect users’ Web3 adventures. A non-transferable and non-fungible token, Galxe Passport stores data that represents a user’s identity in a secure and private way. No one, including Galxe, has access to this data unless the user voluntarily decrypts them. It was a huge step for preventing sybil attacks in the Web3 space and returning data ownership to users.

On top of safety, we also kept in mind that user-experience is key, which was why we went through a UIUX makeover for both projects and Galxe users, making their Web3 experience as intuitive as possible.

Galxe has had a tremendous year. Throughout the month of December, Galxe DAUs averaged at 130k, participating in 300+ active campaigns weekly, and all these aggregated to 7 million total participation counts! Celebrating all these significant growths and all-time-high results, Galxe launched an amazing Galxe Holiday Celebration 2022 campaign to end the year with 15 partners onboard, reaching yet another all-time-high 783,251 mints of Holiday Item NFTs.

Looking ahead to 2023, we have even more exciting things planned and we can’t wait to share them with you. Thank you to all of our Astronauts and partners for helping us reach these heights, and here’s to an even more successful 2023!
